Netflix Expands into Toy Market Through Hasbro and Mattel Partnerships
Netflix is diversifying its revenue streams by entering the toy industry through licensing agreements with Hasbro and Mattel. The streaming giant will leverage characters from its hit animated film "KPop Demon Hunters," which has garnered over 325 million global streams since its June release. The film's theatrical re-releases in August and October demonstrated its enduring popularity, paving the way for merchandise expansion.
Mattel will produce dolls, action figures, and playsets featuring the fictional KPop trio HUNTR/X, while Hasbro focuses on plush toys, board games, and role-playing items. Early products include a three-pack doll set and a Monopoly board game adaptation. This strategic MOVE marks Netflix's latest effort to monetize its intellectual property beyond digital subscriptions.
